About Frankenjura

Frankenjura is the best Germans climbing area that lays in the Bavarian region. This is the place where the sport climbing is coming from and started in 1975, from pioneer Kurt Albert and Wolfgang Gulich who bolted the hardest routes in the World. This is the place where the red point was born. The region is very spread out on more than 120 kilometers with more than 14.000 routes. The stones in Frankenjura look like high mushrooms, and they are hidden in the woods which gives you perfect shade for most of the climbing here. Pockety, crimpy, powerful dynamic climbs with short overhang and sometimes no-holds vertical walls give you technical climbing and one of the specialties here is the mentality of bolting from that ages. Climbing here is very unique and special on pockets and lots of mental training. To not forget to mention the World’s first 9a Action Direct from Wolfgang Gulich and first 8c+ Wallstreet. Climbing here will give you lots of techniques, mental training, and power endurance as well. Even on rainy days you can climb as much as you wish. Pocket climbing will give finger power and sometimes slippery footholds to learn good foot technique.

In Frankenjura is possible to climb all year all around, the best season is from spring till autumn, so summer must be a perfect place to climb. The hidden rocks, divided with little rivers in the valleys give the landscape amazing and lots of walking paths, nice roads for bikers, and moto-bikers too.
